What IRLEncoder is and how to get from a blank board to a live bonded SRT stream.

IRLEncoder is a Linux image you flash onto a single-board computer (SBC). Once flashed, the board becomes an IRL streaming encoder. Plug in modems, ethernet, WiFi, a camera, and a power source, open the web UI, and stream.

What you need

  1. A supported RK3588 board. Radxa Rock 5B+ or Orange Pi 5 Plus. See supported boards.
  2. An SD card or NVMe drive, 16 GB or larger.
  3. At least one network link (ethernet, cellular modem, USB tether, or WiFi).
  4. A camera with HDMI output, a USB Video Class (UVC) camera, or a supported DJI camera.
  5. A power source. A USB-C PD power bank works.

Quick start

  1. Download the image.
  2. Flash it using BalenaEtcher or Rufus.
  3. Boot the board.
  4. Open http://irl.local and copy the first-time password from the onboarding page.
  5. Configure your stream and go live.
